Fyten joins Broncos following deal with Hitmen

Swift Current, SK – The Swift Current Broncos today announced they have acquired 19-year-old forward Andrew Fyten in exchange for either the rights to 17-year-old defenceman Ethan Martini or a conditional third-round pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft.

Fyten, a 19-year-old forward from Sundre, AB has suited up in 40 games for the Calgary Hitmen this season, recording 16 points (6g-10a) in 40 games. The 6’1″ 188lb forward had spent his entire WHL career in Calgary prior to the deal, having collected 35 points (14g-21a) in 155 games.

Martini was originally drafted by Swift Current in the third-round of the 2015 Bantam Draft. He has played the last two years with the Trail Smoke Eaters of the BCHL. The condition in the deal is should Martini not sign with the Hitmen, Calgary will instead receive the Broncos third-round selection in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Swift Current Broncos return to action on Friday, January 12th as they get set to faceoff against the Prince Albert Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre. Puck drop is at 7:00pm CT.
