Broncos Defeat Wheat Kings At Westman Place

The Swift Current Broncos took a 3-2 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings at Westman Place Saturday night.

Eric Roy would open the scoring late in the first period to give Brandon a 1-0 lead.

Defenceman Reece Scarlett would respond for the Broncos minutes into the second period as he recorded his 8th of the season to tie the game up at one.  A cross-checking call to Jayce Hawryluk shortly after would send the Broncos onto their second power play of the night, where Dillon Heatherington would capitalize to give Swift Current their first lead of the evening.  Then, with just over 30 seconds remaining in the middle frame Broncos capain Adam Lowry would follow suit for Swift Current following through off of a great feed from Jay Merkley to extend their lead to two.

Geordie Maguire would cut into Swift Current’s two-goal lead under five minutes into the third period on his fourth of the season.  The Wheat Kings would pull netminder Curtis Honey for the extra attacker with under two minutes remaining in regulation.  But, the Broncos would hold onto their one-goal lead until the bitter end resulting in a 3-2 final.

The Broncos were outshot 28-18, but went 1 for 2 on the man advantage.
