The Swift Current Broncos fell 5-2 to the visiting Kootenay Ice in front of a crowd of 2,338 in a special Monday afternoon contest.
Levi Cable and Jaedon Descheneau (PP) would tally back-to-back markers minutes apart to give the Kootenay Ice a 2-0 lead by the midway mark of the first frame.
The Ice would hold onto the lead until seconds into the second period when Broncos captain Adam Lowry would put Swift Current on the board on his 38th of the season. But, Zach McPhee would respond for the Ice minutes later recording his sixth of the season and restoring Kootenay’s two-goal lead.
A hooking call to Levi Bews around the midway mark of the third period would send the Ice onto their fourth power play of the evening where Descheneau would capitalize tallying his second of the evening to make it 4-1 Ice. But, Lowry would respond for the Broncos once more notching his second of the game and putting Swift Current within two. The Broncos would pull netminder Eetu Laurikainen in the final minutes of regulation for the extra attacker, but Descheneau would round up the empty-netter for the hat-trick and make it a 5-2 final.
Shots on net were even at 25. The Broncos went 0 for 2 on the man advantage.
