Broncos Drop Home-and-Home to Calgary

The Swift Current Broncos dropped a 7-1 decision to the Calgary Hitmen at the Credit Union iPlex on TWO TWO TWOsday.

The Hitmen would gain a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play as Kenton Miller and Trevor Cheek would both slip one past Bronco netminder Austin Smith

In the second frame, Justin Kirsch would add a single five minutes into play.  Following the goal, Jon Groenheyde would replace netminder Smith between the posts for the duration of play.  A Hooking call to Adam Lowry late in the period would allow Victor Rask to capitalize and force the Broncos to carry a 4-0 deficit into the third.

Near the midway mark of the final frame, Rask would score his second consecutive single of the evening and broaden the gap to five.  Less than a minute later, Coda Gordon would break the potential shut out on the man advantage capitalizing on the power play.  Unfortunately a hat trick for Rask and a single by Peter Kosterman would wrap up the scoring for the evening and make it a 7-1 final.  Shots on net were 44-34 Calgary.  The Broncos were 1 for 7 on the power play.

UP NEXT:  The Broncos head to Prince Albert, SK as they battle the Raiders on Friday, October 21st.  Then, the Broncos return to Prince Albert, SK on Thursday, October 27th as they take on the Raiders for the second consecutive time.
