Broncos Fall to Blades in Overtime
The Swift Current Broncos fell 2-1 in overtime to the Saskatoon Blades Saturday night at the Credit Union iPlex.
Play would go back-and-forth for two complete periods of play with neither team able to get on the scoreboard.
Two minutes into the third period, Ryon Moser would score a beauty of a goal immediately exiting the penalty box to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead. The Broncos would hold onto their lead up until the dying minutes of regulation when Blades’ Matej Stransky would lock the game up at one sending the contest to overtime.
The Broncos and Blades would battle it out for roughly two minutes, until Blades’ Josh Nicholls would tally the game winning goal resulting in a 2-1 final.
The Broncos were outshot 44-27 and went 0 for 3 on the man advantage.
UP NEXT: The Broncos travel to Saskatoon on Friday to wrap up their home-and-home series with the Blades. Then, the Broncos return to the Credit Union iPlex Saturday to host the Regina Pats.
Landon Bow made his first WHL start in net stopping 42 of 44 shots he faced.
Ryon Moser extends his point streak (2G,4A) to five games.
Reece Scarlett returned to the lineup after missing a few games due to injury.
The contest saw three fights:
Rookie Dakota Odgers (5’11”, 187lbs.) and Blades’ Logan Harland (5’10”, 190lbs.) dropped the mitts early into play.
Daniel Dale (6’1″, 221lbs.) and Jessey Astles (6’2″, 205lbs.) took to a heated tilt around the five minute mark of the second period.
Richard Nedomlel (6’4″, 225lbs.) and Brett Stovin (6’1″, 188lbs.) got in a quick scrap in the third period.
