Broncos Select Forward Ben King with 13th Overall Pick at 2017 WHL Bantam Draft

Swift Current, SK: The Broncos used their second of two first round selections to take forward Ben King on Wednesday morning at the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft in Calgary, AB on Wednesday morning.

“Ben is another solid two-way forward,” said Director of Hockey Operations Jamie Porter. “He’s got offensive upside and huge leadership qualities. He is probably more than likely not done growing.”

The product of Vernon, BC spent his 2016-17 season with the Pursuit of Excellence Bantam Prep squad of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League. The 6′, 159 lb forward recorded 46 points (16g-30a) in 22 regular season games. Furthermore, King suited up for the Pursuit of Excellence at the John Reid Memorial AAA Hockey tournament and contributed on the score sheet with 10 points (2g-8a) in six games.

“I was really excited and I’ve heard it’s a great place to play,”  said King when referring to his initial reaction after being picked. “Lots of fans come out to Bronco games, they have a really good team and I’m just excited.”
