Broncos Take Loss in Brandon

Shea Howorko had the lone goal for the Swift Current Broncos as they fell 4-1 to the Brandon Wheat Kings at Westman Place in a special afternoon contest.

Penalties were the name of the game as there were 25 calls between both teams.  Less than 15 seconds into play the whistle would blow and fists would fly marking the tone of the game.  Dominick Favreau would open the scoring six minutes into play to put the Wheat Kings on the board.  By the end of the first the Wheat Kings would take a 2-0 lead as Ryley Miller would snipe one past Bronco netminder Jon Groenheyde near the end of the frame.

The second period would see 15 penalties (8 for the Broncos and 7 for the Wheat Kings).  Paul Ciarelli and Mark Stone would add consecutive singles by the midway mark of the frame to make it a 4-0 contest.  But, Shea Howorko would score the final goal of the period notching his first of the season with help from Daniel Dale to break the potential shut out and put the Broncos on the board.

Austin Smith would replace netminder Groenheyde in net to start the third period.  Scoring would halt for either team with the Wheat Kings outshooting the Broncos 19-7 in the frame and resulting in a 4-1 final.

The Broncos were 0 for 2 on the man advantage and were outshot 50-26.
