The Swift Current Broncos are now one step closer to clinching a playoff spot as they took a 2-1 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors Friday night at Mosaic Place.
A roughing call to Sam Fioretti minutes into regulation would send the Broncos onto their first power play of the evening. Broncos captain Adam Lowry would capitalize on the man advantage to open the scoring and give Swift Current a 1-0 lead. Roughly 10 minutes later, Lowry would strike again, tallying his 43rd of the season to extend the Broncos lead to two.
Play would remain 2-0 in the Broncos favour until the midway mark of the third period when a cross-checking call to Richard Nedomlel would force the Broncos onto the PK, where Carter Hansen would capitalize to put the Warriors on the board and put Moose Jaw within one. With just under 90 seconds remaining in regulation, the Warriors would pull netminder Justin Paulic for the extra attacker in hopes of tallying the equalizer, but the Broncos would hold onto their lead resulting in a 2-1 final.
The Broncos were outshot 26-19, but went 1 for 1 on the power play.
