Broncos Take Second Straight Home Win

20-Feb-12

The Swift Current Broncos defeated yet another giant Monday night, taking a 5-4 shootout win over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors in front of a GREAT crowd of 2,552.

Brad Hoban would open the scoring on the man advantage seven minutes into play notching his 15th of the season.  Their lead would be short-lived though as Cam Braes would respond with his 35th just over a minute later to lock the contest up at one.  In the dying minutes of the opening frame, rookie Coda Gordon would extend his goal scoring streak to four games as he would round up a much needed marker for the Broncos and make it a 2-1 contest after twenty minutes of play.

Minutes into the middle frame Kenton Miller would even the contest up once more.  But, a Slashing Call to Moose Jaw's Cody Beach would allow the Broncos to put their 3rd-ranked power play into effect as defenceman Graeme Craig would capitalize reviving the Broncos one-goal lead once more.  The back-and-forth play would continue though as Miller would come back with his second of the evening to make it a 3-3 contest after two periods.

In the final frame, captain Taylor Vause would add another power play marker to the mix to make it 4-3.  But, Quinton Howden would score the final goal of regulation shortly after to send the contest to overtime.

Shots were 4-2 in favour of Moose Jaw in the additional frame, but some great saves on either end would result in a scoreless period as both teams would head to the shootout.

In the shootout, Brad Hoban would be the only player to find the back of the net as the Broncos would take their second straight home victory!

The Broncos were outshot 36-35, but went 3/7 on the man advantage.
