Swift Current Broncos forwards Riley Stotts and Max Patterson were a part of 27 WHL players in total that are listed by NHL Central Scouting as annual preliminary players to watch for in the 2018 NHL Draft.
Stotts, a 17-year-old product of Winnipeg, MB earned a ‘C’ rating, indicating a potential late round pick usually between the fourth and seventh rounds of the NHL Draft. The Winnipeg, MB product skated in his rookie season with the Broncos last season after being selected with the 10th overall selection at the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. Stotts registered 16 points in 2016-17 (9g-7a) and has netted one goal in three games so far in his sophomore campaign.
Patterson, a 17-year-old native of Kamloops, BC also saw himself earn a ‘C’ rating from NHL Central Scouting. The 6’5, 202 lb forward is participating in his first season in Swift Current after being acquired through trade with the Kootenay ICE before the regular season began. Patterson has one assist in three games thus far with Swift Current and has 26 points (15g-11a) in 130 career WHL contests.
Swift Current’s home opener presented by Pioneer Coop is coming on Saturday, October 7th against the Kootenay ICE. Puck drop is set for 7:00pm.
