Team Black Blanks Team White

Team Black took a dominant 5-0 shutout victory over Team White Sunday afternoon in the Swift Current Broncos annual Black and White Intra-Squad Game.

Defenceman Dillon Heatherington opened the scoring and put Team Black on the board followed by an un-assisted marker by Tanner LeSann to give Team Black an early 2-0 lead.  

A few minutes into the second period, Liam Bilton and Spencer Copan would tally up back-to-back singles extending Team Black's lead to four.  By the midway mark of the second period, as per Intra-Squad rules, both teams switched up their netminders with 2012 draft pick Travis Child stepping in net for Team Black while Landon Bow stood tall between the posts for Team White.  

The middle frame would remain scoreless from that point on until 10 minutes into the third period when Paige Maul would follow through off of a feed from Coda Gordon and Colby Cave to put a stranglehold on the contest as Team Black led 5-0.

Play would remain scoreless from that point on as both netminders would stand their ground as Team Black would take a 5-0 win.  Both Eetu Laurikainen and Child would be credited the shutout.

UP NEXT: The Swift Current Broncos head to Moose Jaw on Tuesday evening to battle the Warriors in the much anticipated Rookie Game featuring both team's top prospects.  Then, the Broncos travel to Edmonton, AB to take part in the Oil Kings annual Exhibition Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

BRONCO BANTER:

The annual Black and White Intra-Squad Game saw two fights, one between Tanner LeSann and Sine Chadi and the other between Bobby Zinkan and Dakota Odgers.

Tanner LeSann earned the highly-touted "Gordie Howe Hat Trick" scoring a goal, an assist and dropping the mitts for a fight.

The video board was in full-effect for this afternoon's contest.  Fans experienced the Bronco game at the next level as they witnessed a three-camera production with high definition replays.  Thanks to Wide Mouth Media for a solid production.
