Broncos add to defensive core, acquire Anderson from Cougars
Swift Current, SK: The Swift Current Broncos continue to make their team stronger as they completed a deal with the Prince George Cougars late on Sunday night.
Heading to Swift Current is defenceman Josh Anderson, a 6’3″, 220 lb product of Duncan BC. Originally drafted by the Cougars in the first round, third overall, of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft, Anderson has played in 177 games with the club, scoring 28 points (7g-21a). This season, Anderson has seven points (1g-6a) in 25 games to go along with 42 penalty minutes. Furthermore, he was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the third round, 71st overall in the 2016 NHL Draft.
Anderson brings defensive depth and is a steady stay-at-home shutdown defenceman that the Broncos Hockey Operations staff have had their eye on.
“Josh is a big, tough defenceman that will ear up a lot of minutes for us,” said Director of Hockey Operations Jamie Porter. “He’s a solid defender and will be a huge addition to our group.”
In return for Anderson, the Broncos will send a first round draft selection in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft as well as a first round pick in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.
The Broncos are in action on Friday, January 12th to battle the Prince Albert Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre. Puck drop is slated for 7:00pm CT.
