Connor Hvidston signs Amateur Tryout with AHL San Diego

Swift Current, Sask. – The San Diego Gulls, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, announced today that they have signed Connor Hvidston to an amateur tryout. The Ducks drafted Hvidston with the 148th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Hvidston, from Tisdale, Sask., joins the Gulls on the heels of a breakout 2022-23 season with the Broncos as he more than doubled his point totals from his rookie season.
Appearing in 59 of the Broncos 68 games Hvidston produced at over a point-per-game pace with 65 points (21-44-65), finishing third in team scoring. In 117 career games Hvidston has racked up 97 points (34-63-97) for the Broncos.
Drafted 133rd overall by the Broncos in the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft, Hvidston caught the attention of NHL scouts with his play down the stretch during the 2021-22 season, culminating with an invite to the World Under-18 Hockey Championship in Germany where he scored once and added an assist in four games.
He was a model of consistency during the 2022-23 season, going three consecutive games without a point just once. He ended the season with a stretch of 12 points (3-9-12) in the team’s last 11 games.
The Gulls currently sit 10th in the AHL’s Pacific Division with a record of 19-43-2-1. They have seven games left in the 2022-23 season, with the next one coming Saturday on the road against the Iowa Wild.
Hvidston will be reunited with Broncos alum Gage Alexander who signed an entry-level contract with the Ducks on December 30, and has played 13 games with the Gulls to date.
