The Swift Current Broncos closed out their 2018-19 regular season on Saturday night at Mosaic Place against the Moose Jaw Warriors and lost by a score of 6-0.

20-year-old goaltender Riley Lamb got the start and proceeded to have a great first period in which the Rivers, MB native contributed 15 first period save to keep the matchup scoreless through 20 minutes of play.

Warriors forward Carson Denomie put Moose Jaw on the board when he entered the zone down the left wing and fired a low wrister by Lamb 40 seconds into the middle frame.

Broncos captain Tanner Nagel looked to spark his team early in the third as the 20-year-old got tangled with Warriors’ blue liner Jett Woo and got in a spirited tilt that landed both players five minutes in the penalty box for fighting.

The Broncos struggled in the third period as a turnover in their own end led to Justin Almeida netting his 33rd goal of the season at the 6:11 mark to make it 3-0.

Tristin Langan added a late third period marker and the Warriors proceeded to net two more to deliver the Broncos a 6-0 loss.

Shots on goal were 46-22 in favour of Moose Jaw. The Broncos power play went 0/3 while the Warriors finished 2/3 on the man advantage.

Swift Current finishes the 2018-19 campaign sixth in the East Division standings with an 11-51-4-2 record and miss the postseason for the first time since 2016.
